Anyone tried putting a microphone on a synthesizer and trying to play the pitches for the vocals? I just recently though of this and I was wondering if anyone else had tried it. I have not yet tried it. |

It's probably been tried before, but I know that vocalists would be unhappy to learn that you were getting on the leaderboards by doing that. _________________

There are some videos on youtube where someone used a Theremin to do vocals back in RB1 or RB2, and I remember a flute video as well.
I assume you could do this, just don't treat it as a normal vocals run. _________________

Yeah, people have used various instruments. My favorite was when Pup used the 3DS Ocarina of Time to FC a song on vocals (forget what song).
People have also used synths to get crazy scores on Freeforms in GH vocals. For RB vocals though I think it's borderline acceptable if you're actually playing it in real time, but the problem is it could easily be recorded or triggered to hit the notes at the right time, and that would not be acceptable. _________________

Is this not also a concern with the MIDI adapter and keys/drums? |

I just tried doing this with a mic'd keyboard and it is way harder than singing it. Way harder. |
