Welcome.

Rules regarding proof of an FC

1 - 100% On the leaderboards DOES NOT COUNT as proof of an FC.
2 - No matter who, or how many people vouch for it. A FC on stream DOES NOT COUNT as proof of an FC.
3 - Either a picture or a video showing the note streak, instrument icon and song name will count as full proof of an FC.
4 - Only the first picture/video submitted showing proof will be accepted. Regardless of who FC'd first.

Improving the list
Please keep this in mind when making suggestions so new songs and/or changes in the list.

1 - Give specific placements regarding adding new songs or moving old ones. Basically if you say "Move this song up" I'm not going to really listen. I can't judge your opinion so give me specific numbers. ""This song" belongs at 30 above "this song."" Is much better and makes my life a lot easier.

2 - Consider everyone's ability. Just because you find said song easy or hard doesn't mean everyone else does. Try to remember this is a community thread and think of the community's ability as a whole before you judge a song.

Green = DLC
Red = RBN
Blue = RBN2
Indigo = Rock Band ACDC

Outside of the insane stuff, this song consists of typical Dragonforce-esque 12-13 NPS strumming and fretting riffs and sections which are pretty simple and not too hard to hit, along with some other slow, easy riffs like the Bridge, but what makes this song insane are several insanely fast sections. At the end of the first solo, there's a 16 note-long 26.67 NPS BO, and YO trill. There's nothing really exciting until the third solo; the massive one. It begins with a 26.67 NPS sweep-like pattern (leading into a few fast ascending triplets) that's similar to the slower one in the second solo. About 25% of the way through the solo there's a 26.67 NPS section that's kind of like a trill, but it's anchoring red, then green, while the top note alternates in another trill pattern (For instance, BYBYYRYR, all while anchoring green). This part is 64 notes long. A few seconds later, the exact same pattern appears, except this time the top note doesn't alternate as much (when red is anchored, the top note alternates between blue and orange; when green's anchored, the top note alternates between yellow and blue), still at 26.67 NPS and 64 notes long. About 75% of the way through the solo, you're hit by 20 NPS ascending, then descending triplets, shortly follwed by another 20 NPS section of quad-zags and a part where red is anchored and the top note is either blue or yellow. The last 'difficult' bit of the solo are eight 20 NPS descending triplets, alternating between OBR and BYR. In the middle of the fourth solo there's a quick shredding section with 3 very fast red strums in the middle of it, and in the outro there's a fairly short 20 NPS section with the pattern RORYBO. 5. Nihilanth by Gatling [GuitarHeroAddict112]
Video
According to a bandmember of Gatling this song was supposed to have vocals. Unfortunately they didn't find any singer and thus we are left with 3 minutes of extremely tedious and repetitive riffs. Luckily these riffs are really easy but if someone against all odds were to get consistent on all the solos this would likely still murder all motivation to grind.
However, 3 minutes of basic chords are obviously not what makes this song so difficult. The 9 solos are.
Solo 1 is a mixture of hopo-patterns with random strums, a really long trill which changes frets alot and descending triplets at over 20 nps.
Solo 2 and 3 and 4 are fairly simple but it's still really easy to trip up since it never really slows down.
Solo 5 is widely considered on of the hardest sectoins in the entire game. Mindboggingly fast ascending triplets are thrown at you for around 5 seconds. This would be much easier if they weren't switching frets too as it pretty much forces you to 3 finger alt-tap.
Solo 6 is strums with hopos everywhere and if you're playing on RB3 you will want to use all the hopos to avoid the risk of overstrumming. For most people this would be easier on the RB2 engine but due to some sections approaching the strum limit towards the end of the song it's still recommended to try this on RB3.
Solo 7 is probably the easiest solo, nothing too fast and no random strums.
Solo 8 is also free from random strums and consists of a pretty easy trill where the highest frets changes. I hope you enjoyed the sweet break these last two solos brought you.
Solo 9 is madness. First you have a really random trill which moves all over the fret board, this trill then transists into one of these wellknown and hated "random strum"-patterns where every second note is a hopo.
Solo 9 is followed by a really long and fast strumming streak just to make sure that anyone who is actually going for this FC will choke at least a few times.

6. On and On by Fallen Angel [JPrez44]
Charter 1: Let's chart this solo hard.
Charter 2: Yep.
Charter 1: Really fast trills, chimneys, reverse chimneys and triplets?
Charter 2: And some general randomness.
Charter 1: So we're done?
Charter 2: No, we must add stupid as hell random strums in the middle of it, then we can't forget the mandatory insane part towards the end.
Charter 1: Is this the hardest guitar section in Rock Band?
Charter 2: Probably.

/End of retarded conversation.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7. Through the Fire and Flames by Dragonforce [JPrez44]
8. Entropy/Extropy by Chaotrope [Acezero12078]
9. Burn by Mike Orlando [JPrez44]
Video
O__O There is no breathing room in this five minute long song. The main riff is an assortment of triplets, followed by quick green-anchored HOPO sections reminiscent of TTFAF. It is gonna take a LOT of finger stamina to get through those consistently. Then we have the solos. Solo 1 is a cascade of blisteringly fast sweeps and triplets, while solo 2 throws fast fretting as well as a section of fast bursts of strumming followed by descending quads. Solo 3 is (by this song's standards) a break from the insanity. It has some slower sections, some long HOPO chains of respectable speed, some fast trips, and awkward patterns reminiscent of DWDTG's Victory Solo K. Solo 4 is brief, just some moderate fills and zig-zags followed by another VSK bit. Solo 5 is the breaking point, though. It contains section that starts off as fast picking on orange, then dissolves into zig-zags with strums thrown in that linger on the orange picking, and finally gives way to impossibly fast broken scales. In addition to all of this, you need to watch out for the fills outside of the solos, which are mostly fast triplets, sections similar to the TTFAF intro, and scales. It is worth noting that there is a particularly difficult fill between solos 4 and 5 that is very similar to solo 2's strumming/quad section. Best of luck to anyone trying to get this. You'll need it. [Description by Exxucus]

11. Death In General by Gigakoops [Borealis]
12. Scarred by Chaotrope [GuitarHeroAddict112]
13. A Slight Amplification by Turrigenous [GuitarHeroAddict112]
Video
If it was not for "Time No More" this song would probably go home with the claim of most awkward chart ever. It is one of the many proofs that there is a horrible idea to let a bands guitarist chart his own song.
The verses are mainly really fast and weird trill patterns changing frets that moves into chords with normal notes in between them.
The solo begins with strummed triplets but soon moves over to a relatively easy tapping section which they, thank God, did not chart as all strums. It is however the last 50% of the solo that is made of pure WTF. All strums and pretty much lacking of any pattern, this part brings the first Guitar Hero game back except you have to hit the notes even more precisely. And just shortly after that you are faced with more WTF as some really fast sweeps with random fast strumming in it is coming your way.
After this you may enjoy trying not to choke in the slightly modified verse riff. Oh, and that second solo which by any means isn't easy either.

21. Scream Aim Fire by Bullet For My Valentine [GuitarHeroAddict112]
22. Cool Concoction by Shylo Elliott [Glide Me]
23. Abraxas of Filth by Cephalic Carnage [Joelman535]
24. Baptized by Fire by Chaotrope [UKOG-monkey]
25. Devoid of Thought by Evile [UKOG-monkey]
Video
This song starts at a high pace and never really slows down. The riffs are mainly composed of fast strumming and annoying chord changes. And once your soar hands have finally reached the solo you will know the fun has just begun. The solo starts of pretty easy with some chimney-like patterns which doesn't last very long. Then all of a sudden a wall of note appears. The pattern itself is easy but at 27 nps descending triplets can get quite tricky, especially in the RB-engine. The rest of the solo is easy enough but there's quite alot to choke at afterwards.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
26. The Thief in the Night - Part I by Chaotrope [JPrez44]
27. I've Got A Feeling by Blackberry River Band [JPrez44]
28. Diachylon by Chaotrope [Adohu]
Video
While not the hardest Chaotrope song, this is probably the most intense. 5 solos, none is easy. Apart from, obviously, being godly enough to have the capacity of hitting all solos, you will have to keep very focused not to miss even once during the countless alt-tapping sections.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
29. Surfing with the Alien by Joe Satriani [Strikebowler585]
30. Reaper by Chaotrope [JPrez44]
31. Force by Bluefusion [ScRAcHeRAD]
32. Time No More by Evile [ScRAcHeRAD]
33. Dreamchaser by Amberian Dawn [JPrez44]
34. Death Quota For Purification by The Myriad Burial [UKOG-monkey]
Video
This song is almost 8 minutes long, out of these 8 minutes there is a maximum of 2 minutes that isn't going to try and brutally kick your ass. There are plenty of really hard sections in this song, none of them is at the level of "lolno insane" but to hit them all in the same run is guaranteed to take alot of practice and grinding.
If I were to go into detail of each hard part this description would be well over a reasonable lenght so instead I'm just going to briefly mention them as it might still give an idea of what an utterly ridiculous achievement FCing this beast is.
First you have a really annoying and fast riff with triangle-like patterns. Then comes a long-lasting and really fast tapping section. Shortly after this you will have to hit strumming at over 16 nps followed by hopochords, repeated a few times.
From here on there is a long section that isn't really brutally hard but has a few fast fills and a long weird pattern with random strums in it.
Lastly, if you can say that when it takes up almost a third of the song, is the three solos. It's arguable which one of the first two that is the hardest but the last one is undoubtly the hardest with it's really fast quad zig-zags transitioning into fast sweeps that moves on into strumming.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
35. Cimmerian Shamballa by Wretched [Acezero12078]
Video
The strumming... It. Never. Ends. For over 30 seconds you are faced off against a raging streak of strumming at over 15 nps which switches frets on upstrums and has annoying hopos ocassionaly thrown in between the streaks. Then how would you like a nice cup of really fast strumming riffs and a very missable solo? Not so much?
FCing this is the ultimate stamina test.

36. Omega Wave by Forbidden [Pas26]
37. Lethean Tears by Solution .45 [elitewarrior500]
38. Doublecrossed by Valient Thorr [Acezero12078]
39. Expert Mode by LeetStreet Boys [ScRAcHeRAD]
40. Real by Bumblefoot [PrestonxPunk]
Video
One of the shortest songs available on RBN, yet still one of the hardest. About 40% of its length is made by the solo, and goddamn what a solo that is. The russian folk-music theme of the song translates into really fast grace notes which repeates itself a few times before transitioning into a zigzag. Then you have alot of descending triplets and quads before reaching dat trill. The trill isn't stupidly fast in itself but becomes tricky thanks to the fretchanges. It goes from YGYG into BRBR then back to YGYG and continues that way for a short time. Once past the trill there's only one last hurdle of notes, consisting of sweeps, zigzags and random strums.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
41. Guitars SUCK by Bumblefoot [PrestonxPunk]
42. Headed for the Ditch by Andy Timmons [PrestonxPunk]
Video
What an odd chart. Not even one minute into the song you are greated with a complete mess of HOPO-chords which ill require really flexible fingers and most likely tapping. This goes on for a few seconds and gets followed by a short break before the song once again throws pretty much the same chordy mess at you again. The rest of the song is spelled C-H-O-K-E with the worst part being in the last few seconds.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
43. Parhelia by Heaven Ablaze [ace5993]
44. Septilogy by Chaotrope [Pas26]
Video
Chaotrope loves chimneys, out of his 7 songs currently available on RBN there is only one which has no chimney section. Septilogy has 3 major parts where this pattern appears, all are really fast and one of them moves all around the fretboard with no sense of rhytm. Outside of these sections you also have alot of awkward hopo-chains and one speeding up zig-zag slightly resembling the red snake.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
45. In Memory by Excruciating Thoughts [Pas26]
46. XIV by Chaotrope [Gamephr33k13]
47. Your Treachery Will Die With You by Dying Fetus [Markii1994]

52. Ziltoidia Attaxx!! by Devin Townsend [Adohu]
53. Lionheart by Amberian Dawn [Adohu]
54. Rebel Love Song by Black Veil Brides [Joelman535]
55. Mayhem by Mortice [Pas26]
56. Victor(ia) by Conflicted [Joelman535]
57. Dawn of a Million Souls by Ayreon [PrestonxPunk]
58. Riot Act by Exodus [UKOG-monkey]
59. Voodoo Child (Slight Return) (Live) by Jimi Hendrix [The-B.O.D]
60. Liquid Smog (StompBox Remix) by Becca neun [UKOG-monkey]
Video
If you've played this song, you know it's here for one reason only: the guitar solo. Particularly the last 5 seconds of it, which feature quick up-scaling quads and zig-zags, and a mind numbingly fast yellow snake and trill, before returning to the tier 0 difficulty of the rest of the song. The difficulty in this song can only be overcome with the ability to fret awkward patterns at insane speeds, and the patience to sit through two minutes of incredibly easy chords to have a shot at the solo. 79. Fight to Kill by Holy Grail [Adohu]
80. Over & Over by Valor & Vengeance [Acezero12078]
81. Battle Royale by The World Alive [Jakeyboy]
Video
Most of this song is pretty fast-paced strumming riffs, but nothing way over the top in challenge... until the solo (2:16). The solo of this song comes out of nowhere and despite being only about 11 seconds long and consisting of straightforward shredding patterns, it's FAST (over 17 NPS). Also the end of the song is around 25 seconds of moderately fast strumming that is very easy to choke on (especially the very end which is hard to keep rhythm with). [Description by Bulblax]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
82. The Resonance by Decrepit Birth [Markii1994]
83. Bleed by Meshuggah [UKOG-monkey]
84. Hangar 18 by Megadeth [degreen11]
85. Rebirth by All Shall Perish [Joelman535]

87. Embrace the Curse by All Shall Perish [Acezero12078]
88. Herlathing by Morgawr [elitewarrior500]
89. The End of Progress by Mystakin [elitewarrior500]
90. Welcome to the Skalocaust by Sunny Side Up [The-B.O.D]
91. Black Magic by Slayer [GuitarHeroPhenom]
Video
The song starts out with a heinously long stream of greens that lack any feel of rhythm. This leads into the main riff of the song, which is a fast but pretty standard thrash style burst riff anchored on green, except for one section that goes to red. Your only enemy in these riffs is keeping up with the exact speed of the riff you're on, as it seems to change throughout the song. The real reason this song is on the list are the solos. This is raw, early Kerry King. Awkward forced strums, weird patterns with intermittent picking, and fast fretwork? Definitely Slayer. These two solos require a mastery of the Rock Band engine and memorization of the notechart, because there is no chance of hitting it by just going for it. [Description by Exxucus]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
92. Descend Into The Eternal Pits Of Possession by The Project Hate MCMXCIX [UKOG-monkey]
93. Pandemonium by Chaotrope [PrestonxPunk]
94. Child in Time by Deep Purple [lsapg09]
95. Rip'er by Lead the Dead [UKOG-monkey]
96. Believing by Bang on a Can All-Stars / Julia Wolfe [The-B.O.D]
Video
Yeah, this song is a mess. 5 minutes worth of awkward chords too fast to downstrum. If you're going for an FC of this song it will take some serious time working with the song, which can really suck because this song is not the most pleasing to the ear. It can all seem pretty hard but after a little practice the hard parts are at 1:23-1:43, 4:16-4:31, and 4:53-5:41. Overall this song is a coordination endurance test, nothing fast, just incredibly tricky and awkward. [Description by The-B.O.D]

98. Creatures ov Deception by Rainbowdragoneyes [elitewarrior500]

I think this would be cool, but a 200 song list would be pretty hard to manage.

Agreed with hobo. 100 would probably be the most manageable.

Off the top of my head, here are some songs that should be considered (maybe not all these make top 100). There are also a ton more RBN songs that I don't know.

RB1: GG&HT

RB2: Painkiller, Visions

RB3: Crazy Train, Rainbow in the Dark, Caught In A Mosh, 25 or 6 to 4

ACDC: LTBR(Live), and I know there are others that are balls hard but I don't know what the consensus hardest are.

RBN: Crushed Beyond Dust, Lionheart, I MAED A GAME WITH ZOMBIES IN IT (sp differently I know), Parhelia, Reaper, XIV, Ceraunaphobia, Baptized by Fire, Nihilanth, Believing

DLC: Constant Motion, Blackened, Warriors of Time, Afterlife, I Ain't Superstitious, Black Magic, Hangar 18, Five Magics, Tornado of Souls, The Great Satan, Guns of Summer

I still say a top 200 list is manageable. I mean, surerly it's gonna be hard to argue about what is harder - 178 or 185 - but still it's all subjective.

As I've stated, if the majority thinks a top 100 or 150 is a better choice I'll adjust.

Bolded additions. This is nowhere near complete, just some of the obvious ones. I'm sure I'm forgetting some in RB2.

Yeah those are all good RBN additions, although if we're assuming it's played on RB3 (like the bass list does) then Stick Stickly isn't all that hard anymore.

One of the things I was thinking of doing for something like this was an unranked list and explainations of why each is hard, or maybe group each song into "tiers" of similar difficulty. Just some thoughts on how to do this.

A list like this will be a lot of work to get going, so good luck.

One of the things I was thinking of doing for something like this was an unranked list and explainations of why each is hard, or maybe group each song into "tiers" of similar difficulty. Just some thoughts on how to do this.

Like Dole's HoF for the Guitar list?

anyways, you forgot Sleepwalker, Thrasher (both X and H, mind, though the H version isn't as hard as the X, I'd still consider it near the bottom), and Ride the Lightning (arguably) for DLC. 'Course, if you took ride the Lightning I'd add Snow ((Hey Oh)) near the bottom until there was a better choice.

@ list above: I see Don't Tell Me You Love Me is listed, but (You Can Still) Rock in America isn't, when the latter is MUCH harder than the former. That second solo has some really screwed timing.

A bunch of the songs in popesweetjesus's list are only worthy of top 100 if we're assuming they're played in RB2; with the RB3 strumming engine they're dramatically easier, definitely out of the top 100 and quite possibly out of the top 200 also (but I suppose they're still candidates). I'm thinking specifically of Embedded, Idiots Rule, BSSM.

Too many hard RBN songs.

Haha pretty much. Should just make the list all RBN, because it's full of ridiculously hard songs.

Seeing the replies so far indicates I should go for a top 100-list. Perhaps the list will be 200 songs but only ranking the top 100.

I don't think any RB2 on-disc song will make the list, RitD and GGaHT along with a few songs from ACDC might.

I few days ago I decided to randomly dowload devil-tier songs from RBN which were still on the un-FCed list. 3 of the songs were:
I am Legion, Herlathing and Creatures ov Deception. All were easily harder than Painkiller, it's gonna be a huge challenge to keep track on all the new releases but I'm gonna do my best.

Thanks for the suggestions so far, I'm gonna put them in the main post (not Ride the Lightning though, I know for sure that's not a top 200).
