Here is a short guide on something really quite simple, but is being constantly asked and was never covered in the custom songs guide (according to the original post drums don't even work yet). Hopefully Reptiliack will update his guide and link this one.

Temporary place for Rock Band custom songs.

First of all you will need some sort of midi editor, unfortunately FeedBack will not work for this. I will be using Anvil Studio in this guide as it is free and works fine for this. Anvil Studio can be found here.

In this guide I am going to be using Jager673's "In Regards to Myself" chart. Since this is a chart file I am going to use Leff's chart2mid2chart converter to convert it to be used with Anvil. Once you convert it to a midi you can then proceed to open it up with Anvil Studio.

Note MAKE SURE YOU SELECT "ROCK BAND" WHEN CONVERTING YOUR .CHART, OTHERWISE THE PART DRUMS WILL NOT BE WRITTEN!

Now that we have opened our midi up in Anvil (File/Open Song...) open up the Event List under View. Change the Active Track to PART DRUMS. Now browse to the Comments under View. Make sure the Active Track is set to PART DRUMS then copy/paste these events into the comments box.

[mix 0 drums2easy]
[mix 1 drums2]
[mix 2 drums2]
[mix 3 drums2]
[play]

Now go back to the Event List under View and it should look something like this.

I have had success without doing this next step, so it is not required that you do so, but it is recommended.

Once you have added your events, find the 5th set of NoteOn's.

Double click on one of them and copy the number in the "Time of event" box.

Now double click your [play] event and paste that number into the "Time of event" box.

Hit "Ok". You should now see your [play] event after the 5th NoteOn's.

Now go to File/Save Song and you're done! Make sure it looks something like this.

Here is the finished product (My video of course).

Hope this short tutorial helped you. Please link this in the main thread if you would Reptiliack.

I accidentally added a blank line to the comments section, but I doubt it will make any difference.

To get rid of the blank comments line, either go to the Edit Comments and delete the blank Return, or just double-click the event and Delete Event.

Obviously

I didn't notice it until after I linked the screen shots.

Awesome tut!

I sorta knew the basic idea but this just removed all doubt from my mind!

Epicness, now I'm only 3 steps away from custom DRUM CHARTS!
THANKS!

Found this in beatmatch.dta. If this means what I think it means, we can use any combination of these for our 4 drums, from left to right.

*don't* do this if you're using RawkSD. Unless you have master drum tracks and know what the mix events actually do.
