few simple tips here

1. Hit the sustains slightly less than half a bar early. you'll get extra points and it will add up, it helped me get 13k more the top score in painkiller

2. Activate in the bits with the most notes, regardless if they fall into one of the bonus boxes or if they are in a solo or w/e.

3. develop a way of hitting Overdrive slightly before the Chords. I use L trigger and R trigger to activate and square and left to change, this way you can activate on any note in the game on any chart.

4. If you activate in a place where the BPM is slow, the Overdrive will be used slower, also if the BPM changes to a really fast BPM after this (for example Aqualung) the Overdrive will still waste at the low rate even though the notes are alot faster.

5. Know your drum beats. every other instrument pattern will be a hell of a lot easier if you know the drum pattern.

6. If you want to increase your stamina for the longer harder songs, take Number of the Beast or Painkiller into Warm up mode and just play drums. you be surprised how painful your thumbs will get, afterwards rest them and you will have a lot stronger thumbs and will have easier times.

7. Search up the chart on YouTube, download it and watch it. Examine bits that are giving you trouble and reenact them on your PSP at a slower speed. (a metronome may help here. not so much for BPM changing songs hehe...)

8. Dont feel like you have to play on the same instrument until you pass its phase. Dont be afraid if the Drum part is giving you hell to change and do the vocals/guitar/bass until the hard bit passes. you may get Overdrive and can use that. Remember that the crowd meter goes down slower if your not on the actual instrument. roughly 3x slower. also it needs to miss like 4 phases until it fails out on the lowest.

9. Practice common patterns. Trills, Triplets and Red blue Trills come up alot, especially in solo's learn how to do them off by heart and you can rule easily.

10. Never EVER activate on the start of the vocal chart. the only excuse is maybe chop suey. I Cant remember the chart.

11. If there is a bit that is giving you trouble take a picture of it from a YouTube video and put it into paint. memorize the pattern and/or press the buttons like you would on the PSP.

Enjoy, hope my tips helped you 5 star that hard song or pass that annoying song!
