I've been messing with button layouts since I got the game, and while the standard layout does work best most of the time (not to mention I'm already used to it thanks to games like DJ Max), I'm sure some of you have used alternate layouts for certain troublesome songs.
The only layout I can currently remember is the one I used for The Boys are Back in Town, where I assigned the right button to green. This was because of the part in the drum phrases in the chorus that went:
My left finger refused to cooperate and always wanted to hit a button while I hit green, so I assigned right to green so that when that part came up, I would just slide my left thumb onto the right button to hit the green.
Anyone else have button layouts to share? _________________

When I play a certain section with RY, I'll pause my game, and switch my settings so the R is attached to the Left Bumper and the track switch is the left d-pad. Afterward, I'd switch it back to default.
Also I use the Quick-Wrap function so I can switch tracks easier. _________________

Wow Im surprised someone likes that. I found it super disorientating if I was on bass and accidentally hit L or R from guitar..much easier for me to just hit L or R 3 times quickly. _________________

Sometimes, I'll do the default way of switching 3 times.
What I like about Quick-Wrap is that I can see what is coming up before start the next phrase and gives me a bit of time to prepare and/or relax. _________________

you get used to it after a while. When I first did it, I got totally lost, but now it makes it alot easier to switch from guitar to bass and vice-versa. _________________

I always thought it would be really freaking hard to play without Quick Wrap. _________________

IMO Quick-Wrap is required. Getting from Guitar to Bass and back annoys me too much to do normally. Quick Switching, however, screws me up. _________________

I find having the L + R on OD allows me to activate at the perfect times.
I've actually developed the ability to hit overdrive as a chord whenever I have to activate, its pretty easy when I have to hit a red or blue note and activate on it. With the layout I have, I can also activate on YG notes!
But yeah, bumpers seems like it would be a lot easier to activate. _________________

Does anyone use an alternate layout to help with the Painkiller choruses? I can't hit that normally and I think changing the buttons might help, but maybe i just need more practice?
I tried playing this with Square mapped to red, triangle mapped to yellow, circle mapped to blue and cross mapped to green, with left and right mapped to track switches.
It works well for hitting fast trills since I can use two index fingers for it if I rest the PSP on a table, but it's kinda shitty for anything else.
