can you only get gold stars on expert because im never able to get a hi enogh score for the expert cutoff is it possible to earn shiney golden stars on hard or under?

I actually found it a motivating factor to stop playing Hard and move onto Expert. I'd played a fair amount of Guitar Hero before this point, but was always content to stay in mediocrity. (And I still am, as far as GH3 is concerned. I prefer my "sea of notes" charts to have less triplets in them, thanks.)

Rock Band is nice in that even the Expert charts are rarely "WTFNOTES" overwhelming, and 5* is easy enough to achieve on a sightread on all but the most difficult of songs. Fortunately, the Gold Stars add that kick-in-the-pants to the challenge level. When I play, I treat 5* as a clear, 5GS as a 'full clear,' and 4* or less as effectively failing the song.

That's just my personal scale, of course. Your mileage may vary.

But it DOES mean that I STILL haven't ever "cleared" Bang A Gong, because I don't have 5* on it. Fourth tier my ass.
