What's a good song to practice bass pedal independence on? I'm having trouble with songs where the bass pedal is separate from the main line.

Yes........yes it does

This is the one thing I have found hardest so far. Will have to give Little Sister some more practice to try and improve.

A great song in my opinion is Reptilia. I started hitting it last night and was pretty in awe. I know it isn't hard, but dammit it's a big accomplishment for me!

I agree, that song was a roadblock for me until I got my foot going well on it's own.

I think when it first really hit me was on Maps on Hard. It's a simple steady beat. After that, move on to stuff that's a bit more complicated like Suffragette City or Reptilia, and also stuff with alternating bass and other stuff (In Bloom?)

I think that a lot of songs like Vasoline on Hard are good practice for this sort of thing.

Of course, if you don't want to get totally raped from the get-go, there's always Gimme Shelter and Mississippi Queen on Expert.

Mississippi Queen would actually cause me enough foot pain on hard that I'd have to stop playing the first few weeks. Now I have enough foot endurance to play it and keep going, but yeesh...MQ is not where I'd recommend anyone start.

Reptilia on Hard would be my vote.

I think just playing though medium gets your foot to think differently then your hands and then when you get to hard. It is an amazing learning curve and i love it. I think mississippi queen really helps cause once you feel the groove your like uuuuuuuuuh got this =P

I would say Dead on Arrival on whatever difficulty you can manage. If you can learn to hit a bass pedal part like that, your foot can gain a lot of independence.
