Like the topic says, what's a good song/difficulty to practice rolls on?

I'm decent at them, but I can never seem to get them all.

I'm fairly certain it's not my drum set, though.

You could try taking TKaR (Aerosmith song) into practice and playing that one really long and fast roll over and over. Then you could adjust the speed that you want to roll at and build it up over time.

In relation to this... how do you play that part? The only way I got through this bitch on expert was to save all my overdrive for those two drum rolls.

There's a count off right before they come in. It's just 16th notes... fast 16th notes.

You could also try Run to the Hills on Expert.

In practice mode, of course.

Honestly, I'm not sure, as a drummer I just hear the beat and play it :p

I can usually keep a 4x combo going most of the time.

*EDIT* So I was wrong before-- the song I was thinking about was the Molly Hatchet song(Expert). They have this steady left-right rhythm on the red drum, and then every so often there are these 3 quick little notes. I don't know if the technique called for is rolling but its good to practice. Check it out

In terms of rolls being too fast for you, there's an easy technique to make yourself (seem) faster, unless you're Mike Mangini, in which case you shouldn't be asking US for help.

Try letting your sticks bounce during rolls. You can practice this on the pads without the game being on, but in essence, you want a loose enough grip on your sticks such that they bounce up a little every time you strike the pad. If they bounce up, you don't need to pull up yourself, so all your roll movement comes out of the wrist, which is how you can (eventually) play 32nd notes and so forth.

Also the intro to the intro of Cherub Rock. I personally love the drum solo on NIB. It's short and sweet. Very sweet.
