I had never played a drum set in my life before I played Rock Band, so I'm not really very good at it. I decided to try and bash my way through Expert anyway, because hardcore people play on Expert and my lifelong dream is to someday be described as hardcore.
Well, I was actually seriously doing pretty good. Yeah. Seriously. I four-starred a few things, actually five-starred Suffragette City, etc. And then I ran into The Hand That Feeds.
I just cannot do this song. It really confuses me. I think my problem is my precision, because I often miss the snare during the verses and it drives down my score. The part where I usually fail is during the fast reds with an occasional yellow. Does anyone have any tips for playing more precise and being able to pass this evil, evil song? _________________

Yeah the base of that beat is the bass drum which plays quarters on the beats (1, 2, 3, 4). The red/yellow thing is pretty much a gallop if you're familiar with guitar hero discussions (think The Trooper).
The best way to stick those is RRL RRL RRL RRL. This lets you get over to the snare easy. In practice mode, first try taking the left hand out of it completely, and notice how the right hand just plays steady 8th notes:
Code: |
R R Y R R R Y R
B B B B |
Then add the left notes (in parenthesis--and they'll always stay on red) in to see how that all fits together:
Code: |
R R(r) Y R(r) R R(r) Y R(r)
B B B B |
Really as long as you get a feel for that "dut digga dut digga dut digga dut" gallop you'll be good to go.
The chorus just moves the right hand onto the off-beats, for a disco-esque sound. Just focus on the quarter notes on the bass there, and think of the snare/offbeat hi-hat as groups of 3. B R B... B R B... B R B... etc. |
