It will default to the lowest difficulty. In other words, if you vox on medium but tar on expert, you'll only get the medium acheivement for both.
I learned this one the hard way. |

Try not singing in too high of an octave, or you might have trouble hitting the one or two high notes later in the song.
Luckily I can sing this in the original octave. (: |

As people have said, it's whatever feels most comfortable. Try both and see what works. I'm not much of a drummer, but I do heel-up because I find it a LOT easier than heel-down. |

Random sort of tip, but I hold on to the strum bar during faster sections and during slower alt-strumming sections I keep a really loose grip. Seems to help me stay on time. |
