and I don't own an ION kit (too much $$$)

No, the actual stand that holds the pad up is broken. not the pad it's self.
My orange is the same butI taped it on but it makes the pad crosstalk way too much (hence why Ive been playing Rock Ban ... |

For those that are wondering, it's a DW Cuswtom Maple kit.
I think it's awesome that you use two bass drums instead of a double bass pedal  .
Yeah, that's why I use 2 KP-65's and 2 single ped ... |
